The guy on the right is Bobby Dean Landreth. Our backyards used to join when I lived in Olive Branch, MS and we went to school together in the 2nd and 3rd grade, then I moved to another town (Byhalia, MS) and lost touch. Years later we ended up in this band together. His sister is the one who had the pic. His first cousin is none other than Sonny Landreth, slide player extrordinaire.

Oh, and I'm 5' 10" tall.

As active as I wanna be. :) Actually the past couple of years, I haven't been all that actively trying to keep a band going. Got kinda burned out for various reasons. One being this extra weight that I'm now trying to shed so that I feel more like it. Another being that clubs just don't want to pay worth a crap. Also, it's hard to find really dedicated musicians around and that's partly due to reason #2. I can throw my band Rat Sass together anytime without the need for rehearsal, since we know so many tunes together. If someone calls for a private party or wedding reception or something, we'll go play it. I've played in a couple of other bands too, as they needed a lead guitarist, but they're not serious musicians, so I don't push those a lot either. When I get this weight off to where I feel better and can put on a good show again, I'll be looking to put something new together. I have a nice recording studio in a 20 X 40 building I had put up behind my house. I'm still working on remodeling it so that when I put a band together, we'll be able to rehearse here and get a nice demo together. I've written quite a few original songs, but it's hard to get a band to play original music here. You can hear some of my stuff at www.myspace.com/jeffcoleysband if you want to. I'm playing and singing all the parts on most of the songs, using a drum machine mostly. There's a couple I put on there with a full band or at least a live drummer. Most of the songs were done on a little 4-track cassette recorder and then I moved up to an 8-track cassette recorder, but now I have a 24-track digital recorder that I'm just dying to use for my own stuff. I've used it on one of the other bands I played with last year. You can hear some of it at www.myspace.com/alixmafia and I have a site for my studio (haven't really kept it up lately. Need to post some of the new pics on there). Anyway, I WANT to get back into it, but I need to get healthy again to do it. I'll keep ya updated on it.

Here's a view from my side yard. I was driving home from work and saw this rainbow, so when I got home I went in and got my camera and snapped this. The rainbow is landing on my neighbor's house. I e-mailed him a copy and told him, I KNEW he had a pot o' gold there. He loved it and said he sent it to all his friends and family. He is Al Weiderkehr and owns the Weiderkehr Winery in Altus, Arkansas. Yeah, I got quite a view from my lil piece o' Heaven. :)

Hey, I'm right here. I check the forum everyday, but don't usually post anything unless I have a major developement (the lawnmower chronicles) or if someone asks me something. I figure this is a fairly new forum and it will take a while before people are commenting everyday with each other. I am on another forum (a musician forum) and have had great fun joking and swapping ideas with others on there. I'll be glad when this one gets that busy (and it will someday). Maybe I'll try writing some more funny (but true) stories and posting them on here. My life is a comedy at times and I have lot's of stories to fall back on.
I guess the musical forum is busier because people have lots of band stories and musical advice to swap. I've learned a lot on there and I've help out a lot of people on there too, with everything from equipment ideas to recording techniques. On here, everyone is usually already locked in on how they are working to achieve their goals, and so they don't have or need as much advice from others besides dietary supplements and such. But I think as we all get to know each other better, we'll share more of ourselves with the others, just like friends do. I'm ALL about that kind of stuff.
Anyway, take care and keep working toward your goals. Sometimes a weight loss goal doesn't have so much to do with losing the actual weight as it does with getting your whole life back on track and the weight loss is just one aspect of that. That's the way it is with me anyway. Life is good, but it can always be better.
